Mr. Rocco J. “Roc” Calicchia, age 79, of Schuyler, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 16, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Utica on March 12, 1939 a son of the late Ralph and Rose Pape Calicchia and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. Rocco served our country during the Vietnam Era from 1963-1965 in the US Army. He was employed with the General Electric Co in Utica and Portsmouth, VA before locating to Florida, where he established the Florida Commercial Cleaning Co., owning and operating his business for many years until his retirement in 2001. He subsequently moved back to Utica to be close to his siblings who cared so much for Roc.
He was predeceased by his sisters Anna Marie Calicchia, Josephine Calicchia, Lena Sahli and Catherine Calicchia and his brothers Ralph Calicchia, Jr., Joseph Calicchia, Sr., Dominick Collicco and Anthony Collicco.
Surviving are one sister-in-law Theresa “Tessie” Collicco and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, especially Lisa and Carmen Filletti and their children Nina and Mark Ranieri, Carmen and Erin Filletti and Bianca and Greg Bussey; nephews Anthony Collicco and wife Kelly and Michael Collicco and wife Maria who cared for Rocco with love and compassion. He also leaves his dear friends Joanne DiCampli and Tom Marrotta, Jr. and his caregivers Faith, Janet, Tiffany and Ariana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:30 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, with Military Honors conferred. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
