Mrs. Alfreda J. Mondo, age 92, of Utica, passed away Tuesday

September 16, 2014 at Buffalo GeneralHospital, BuffaloNY.

She was born in Little Falls, New York on July 21,1922 daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Gill (Komisarek). She was raised in Massena, NY attending local schools. She graduated with a nursing degree from the A. Barton Hepburn Nursing School and later earned a BS in Science from Utica College of Syracuse University.

On June 6, 1950 she was married to Andrew Nicholas Mondo, a blessed union of 64 years. Alfreda was employed for many years as a Registered Nurse, with St. Luke's Hospital, until her retirement. Once retired she worked as a classroom aide at ChristopherColumbusSchool and Proctor High. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony/St Agnes Church. In her spare time Alfreda had a love of quilting and was formerly a member of the Quilting Club.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Andrew; daughter Andrea Mondo of Cheektowaga, NY: two sons and daughters-in-law James A. and Lucy Mondo of CA. and Peter J. and Jo Mondo of TX; her cherished grandchildren Katherine, Victoria and Andrew Mondo, one sister Adele McHugh of FL; one sister-in-law Aurora Stidham of Buffalo and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister and brother-in law Lillian and Hutch Viskovich, and brother-in-law Richard McHugh.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave and at 9:00 am in St. Anthony/St Agnes Church. Private entombment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be Friday from 4 - 7 pm at the funeral home.
