Anthony J. Calenzo age 92, of Utica, passed away on Friday July 7, 2023, at the Sitrin Healthcare Center with his beloved family by his side.
He was born in Utica, NY, on April 24, 1931, a son of the late Michael and Rose Lupino Calenzo and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On November 10, 1956, he was married to Patricia Critelli in Mt. Carmel Church, a loving and blessed union of 66 years.
Anthony proudly served our country during the Korean War in the US Army from 1953-1955.
He was employed as an Electrician with the General Electric Co. for over 32 years until his retirement. Subsequently he was also a well-known dispenser of spirits at Twin Ponds Golf & Country Club for over 20 years. Anthony was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved wife Patricia; two sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Denise Calenzo of New Hartford, and Robert ‘Bob” and Jerriann Calenzo of Utica; two daughters and a son-in-law, Laurie Ann Calenzo of Johnson City, NY and Lisa and Joseph Schiavetta of NC.; his cherished grandchildren Daniella Calenzo and husband John, Justina Calenzo and fiancée Mike, Mark Calenzo, Jr., Gary Cole, Matthew Calenzo, Nicholas Calenzo and wife Chloe, Anthony Calenzo, and Sarah and husband Anthony “AJ” Schirripa; two beloved great grandchildren Giuliana Rose and Braden; one sister, Rosalie and husband Richard Camarra, one brother, Michael Calenzo and wife Margaret; his in-laws Louis Critelli, Gloria Giglio and Deanna Still. He was predeceased by two brothers Andrew and John and his sister Angela.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday July 13, at 12:00 noon in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church, with Military Honors conferred by the US Army. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. The family extends a special Thank You to the caregivers of the Aspen House at the Sitrin Healthcare Center for their care and compassion.
