Mr. Anthony J. Ferris age 96, of New Hartford, passed away on Monday

November 14, 2016.

He was born in Utica on June 17, 1920 a son of the late Roger and

Josephine Ferris and was educated in local schools. On November 27,

1952, he was married to Helen Shaheen in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, a

blessed union of 54 years until her passing on December 2, 2006. Anthony

served our country during WWII in the US Army Air Corp. and was a

recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was the owner and operator of the family business R. Ferris & Sons

Produce Co. for many years until his retirement. His greatest purpose and

joy was the love of his family.

Mr. Ferris is survived by his sons Roger Ferris and Anthony J. Ferris, Jr.

and friend Ann Mizgala; two daughters and sons-in-law Mary Jo and

Richard Kukla and Sara and Michael Sciortino; his beloved grandchildren

Bennett, Christopher, Mary and Jack; his sister Gloria Sakran; his sister-in-law

and brother-in-law Agnes and Charles Lewis, many loved nieces and

nephews, and family friend David Julian. He was predeceased by one

sister, Helen Abounader; four brothers, Roger Ferris, Fred Ferris, Joseph

Ferris and Moses Abounader; and his in-laws, Tillie Ferris, George

Abounader, Kay Ferris, Ray Sakran, Sadie Abounader, A.L. And Ruth

Shaheen, Joseph and Jennie Shaheen, Victoria Shaheen, Catherine

Shaheen, Thomas and Mary Maroun, and George and Angie Shaheen,

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Divine Liturgy of the

Faithful Departed on Friday at 11:00 am in St. Louis Gonzaga Church. The

family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church. Private entombment

will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
