Antoinette (Calaguiro) Rappa

Mrs. Antoinette "Toni" Rappa age 84, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 26, 2015 at CrouseHospital, Syracuse, NY.

She was born in Utica on January 4, 1931 a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Calaguiro and was educated in local schools, having graduated from TR proctor High School, Class of 1949. On June 13, 1953 she was married to Bennie Rappa, in Mt.CarmelChurch, a blessed union of 62 years.

Toni was employed for over 20 years as the Office Administrator at the John Hancock Ins. Co. in Utica, until her retirement.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose life centered around her family. She was an excellent seamstress, as well as an exceptional cook. Her door was always open, and most often you would find family and friends around her table. A selfless woman of love and compassion, she will be sadly missed by her beloved family and dear friends.

Surviving are her beloved husband Bennie, three loving sons and daughters-in-law Paul and Ginny Rappa of VA., Mark Rappa of VA. and Brenda Baker, and Benedict and Michele Rappa of Myrtle Beach; her cherished grandchildren Dana and Zeth, Danielle and Tommy, Jacquelyn and Tim, Marc, Matthew and Julianna; beloved great-grandchildren Gabriella and Alessandra; one sister-in-law Rose Calaguiro and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dear friends from her Sorority and Bible Study Group, especially her lifelong friends Rose Bucciero and Cathy Giruzzi. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Michele Rappa on April 3, 2015 and one brother Anthony Calaguiro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church. Private interment will be in New ForestCemetery.

The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Brenda Baker for her constant love, support and care given to Antoinette and Bennie throughout the years.
