Barbara (Calnero) Waters

Mrs. Barbara (Calnero) Waters, age 79, of Utica passed away on Saturday July 12, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

She was born in Utica, on January 4, 1935, the daughter of the late Emilio Calnero and Christine Sacco Calnero. She was educated in local Utica Schools, having graduated from UFA. She was also a graduate of Utica College of Syracuse University and CornellUniversity/New York Hospital School of Nursing. On October 22, 1960 she married Michael Waters, until his passing on February 26, 2009.

Barbara was a career RN and was employed in many of the Utica area hospitals including: St. Elizabeth Medical Center, FaxtonHospital, and the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, where she last served as Supervisor of Nursing. Her most recent position was as a nursing consultant for Catholic Charities of Utica, until her retirement.

She leaves two beloved daughters Monica Waters of Utica and Valerie Waters-Auclair and her husband James Auclair of FL; one sister Ann Cissi of New Hartford; two cherished grandsons Connor and Ryan Auclair: two nieces Elizabeth Cissi-Shove and husband David Shove, and Elaine and Matt Goudey; one nephew Mark Cissi and her dear great nieces and great nephews.

There will be no public visitation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church, with refreshments to follow in the church hall.

The family extends a special Thank You to the nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 4th floor, special care unit for their kindness and compassion.
