Carl R. Sinisgalli, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 13, 1935, a son of the late Rocco and Elizabeth (Mangano) Sinisgalli. Carl graduated from T.R. Proctor High School. He was employed with the Department of Motor Vehicles for 30 years and would go on to continue working at Met Life and the Utica City School District until his retirement.
Carl was a simple man, a man of few words but many wise thoughts. He lived his entire life in the decades of the 1940's and 50's, a time of his youth and young adulthood. He continued this way of life through the turn of the century into the 2000's. No checkbook, ATM or debit/credit cards and no computers or cell phones of any type. A simple man in the complex world and times we live in now.
Carl was academically productive at both Brandigee Grammar School and Proctor High School. He was a gifted piano student and also played the trumpet and French horn. He had no hobbies to speak of but if sports could be classified as one's hobby that's what peaked, his interest and where he devoted hours of his time. An avid baseball fan, he could hawk down a fly ball like a mini DiMaggio with the best of them! Whether playing organized ball or many street stickball games, he was a fierce competitor.
A lifetime central New Yorker, Carl's favorite sports teams were baseball's Cleveland Indians and football's Cleveland Browns........go figure. He lived & died these teams with undeniable passion, often not being able to watch them on TV in crucial games.......go figure! He proudly wore attire depicting both teams everywhere he ventured, in central New York. He never wavered rooting for his teams his entire life!
Carl is survived by his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth “Betty” A. and Joseph F. Antonelli, Clinton, and Rosemary A. and John J. Jones, Utica; great-nieces and great-nephews, Joanne E. Granza, John Granza, Gina Marie Antonelli-Hensel, Anthony Hensel, John A. Jones, (Kimberly), David M.
