Mr. Carmen A. Durante age 89, of Utica, went to be with our Lord, on Wednesday November 2, 2022, at the Albany Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Utica, on July 15, 1933, a son of the late Anthony and Raffaella Centolella Durante and was educated in local schools. Raffaella passed away shortly after Carmen’s birth. Anthony then remarried Rose Durante who showered Carmen with a lifetime of motherly love. Carmen served our country during the Korean War from 1953-1955, in the US Army.
He was employed for over 30 years with the LB Security Co., spending his last several years before retirement as the guard at the Gold Dome Savings Bank in Downtown Utica. He was a member of the Whitestown VFW # 7393.
He served on the board of the Utica Municipal Housing Authority as the tenant representative for many years, a role he truly enjoyed.
Carmen loved spending time with his family, he really loved music and had a very impressive album collection. He especially enjoyed his Sundays going to church and out with his coffee club friends.
Surviving are two beloved daughters and sons-in-law Ann Marie and David Barr of Syracuse and Michelle and James Barrett of Rome; his fiancé/companion and love for 20 years, Audrey Manolescu; grandchildren Nicole and Kyle Shirvani, Trenton Hawkins and Brooke Manolescu, great-grandchildren Crew and Reed Shirvani; one brother Anthony Durante and one sister-in-law Deborah Durante and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Pasquale and Frank Durante.
Visitation will be held on Thursday 11/10/22 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. Funeral services will commence at the conclusion of visitation at 6:30 pm in the funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Krawczenko, officiating. Military Honors will be conferred by the US Army.
