Christopher A. Wilsey, age 60, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Monday June 30, 2025, at his home with the love of his family in his heart. Christopher had a lifelong struggle with heart disease and illness.
He was born in Utica on May 8, 1965, a son of William and Mary Ann Rich Wilsey and was a graduate of TR Proctor High Schol. At one time he was married to Antoinette Placanica , and from that union they were blessed with two sons, Christopher W. and Nicholas Wilsey.
Christopher was a licensed electrician by trade. For the past 10 years he was employed with the Marcy Correctional Facility as the Trade Specialist, Electrician, a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the IBEW Electrical Union and the CSEA Union.
Beside his vocation, Christopher had a love for the outdoors. He was the consummate hunter, fisherman and true animal lover. He was always looking for the next stray animal he could rescue. He loved his time at the cabin up north sharing many good times, beginning with his grandfather Gabe Rich, and through the years his many cousins and friends. Christopher never let his congenital heart defect slow him down and he truly lived a full life, fishing 2 days before his death. Although his time seemed too brief, his life was full of laughter and love. His family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved parents, Mary Ann and Bill; his two cherished sons Christopher W. Wilsey and Nicholas Wilsey; his brother and sister-in-law William “Bill” and Sandy Wilsey; his sister and brother-n-law Jennifer and Dean Zumpano; his loving nieces and nephew Santina and Bianca Zumpano and Casey, William and Samantha Wilsey; his aunts and uncle, Cynthia Barres, Elizabeth and Robert Wendler and Dorothy Rich; he also leaves many beloved cousins of the Barres, Wendler and Rich families, especially Francis Barres and also his lifelong friend Bob Taylor.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Gabriel and Cora Rich and his paternal grandparents Bill and Irene Wilsey; uncles, John Rich, Sr, Gabriel (Audrey) Rich, Carmen Barres, Sr. and his cousin Carmen Barres, Jr.
