Cynthia A. (Dote) Hammond

Cynthia A. (Dote) Hammond, age 73, of Newport, NY, formerly of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away on April 4, 2023, at home with her beloved son by her side.

She was born in Utica on May 6, 1949, a daughter of the late Robert and MaryAnn Dote and was a graduate of UFA and MVCC. Cynthia was employed for many years as a Therapy Aide with the Utica Psychiatric Center until her retirement. Upon retirement she relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida where she enjoyed many years, until she returned home due to illness. Cynthia was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by her two sons John A. Hammond (Regina Bronson), with whom she resided and James Hammond of Utica; her grandchildren Kayla Hammond of New Orleans, and Casey and Jerrica Merry of VT.; her brother and sister-in-law Timmy and Denise Dote of FL.; her sister Debra Dote of Rome and several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A special Thank You is extended to Cynthia’s nurse Judy and the staff of Hospice Care Inc. of New Hartford for their care and compassion.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
