Cynthia (Dickan) Rancier

Ms. Cynthia M. Rancier 70, of Oswego NY, passed away suddenly at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY, on Tuesday January 27, 2026, with her loving family by her side. 

Cindy was born in Utica, NY, on June 7, 1955 to the late John and Elgie (Clifton) Dickan.

Cindy retired as a direct professional for FLDDSO – assisting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities by promoting independence to live their best lives. She loved and was loved by all individuals who’s lives she touched. She will be deeply missed. 

Cindy enjoyed spending time with her family and baking cookies and muffins for her family and friends. She enjoyed meeting new people everywhere she went. She loved spending time with her beloved dog Luna. She was a proud grandmother who adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so proud of them and never missed an opportunity to brag about them. 

She is survived by her daughter Chrissie Gardenier, daughter Julie Gale, six grandchildren – Zachary Gardenier, Jasmine Cranson, Victoria Cranson, Jade Gale, Nolan Gardenier, Jared Gardenier, 7 great grandchildren – Lucia, Kay’lanie, Kaiden, Kahlessia, Vaneah, Rownin, and Joviah, 9 siblings Jim Dickan (Dora Tran), Carol (Michael) Czerkies, Darlene Dickan, Lorraine Guertin, Paula (William) Knapp, Michael (Teresa) Dickan, Susan (Michael) Morrissey, and Anthony (Teri) Martino, and many nieces and nephews. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Crouse Hospital ICU for their care and compassion. 

In keeping with Cindy’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Instead, a celebration of life will be held at a later date - late spring early summer.
