David F. Godkin Sr.

David Francis Godkin, Sr. age 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 8 2026, at his home.

He was born on November 11, 1957, a son of the late Gerald and Joan (Paciello) Godkin. David attended local schools and retired from the Utica City School District.

David lived a full, happy life and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed music, the outdoors, camping in the Adirondacks, and playing cards. He also liked to read, especially about politics, sports, and the world news, and could talk about these topics with everyone.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Godkin, Esq. (Benjamin Eddy); his son Daniel Godkin; and their mother Jo Anne Reesh Godkin, David’s former wife and dear friend. He was predeceased by his son David Francis Godkin, Jr. on October 7, 2007, a loss that will never be forgotten. He is also survived by his grandson Luca Godkin, David Jr.’s son.

He also leaves behind many extended family members, too numerous to mention.

Private entombment was held by his children at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Funeral arrangements were held by the Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave. Utica.
