Domenico Pedulla

February 11, 1939 — December 23, 2012

Mr. Domenico Pedulla, age 73, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 23, 2012 with his beloved family by his side. He was born on February 11, 1939 in Bianco, Reggio Calabria, Italy a son of the late Giuseppe and Elizabeth Minicuci Pedulla and was educated in Italy. On December 30, 1962 he was married to Filomena Lucibello in Italy, a loving and blessed union of 50 years, which would have been celebrated this week. The young couple came to the US and Utica in 1969. Domenico was employed as a foreman with the North Paving Co. for many years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local # 35. Domenico was a man who opened his home, his hands and his heart to all he encountered. He was always willing to help a neighbor or friend, and shared his generous heart each and every day of his life. Domenico spent many hours of his life in his well-known garden, which he nurtured and cared for all spring and summer long. His garden was a source of pride and sustenance to his family, and he shared his knowledge and love for it with many, especially his grandson, Santino. Domenico also loved to fish and pick vegetables with his special friends, Vincenzo Cutrona and Mario Durso. His friends at the "Italian Club" were a source of laughter and joy to Domenico many days of his life. While he was a man of few words, he was a man of many emotions and values. The patriarch of the family, Domenico's greatest source of joy in life was his family. Earlier this month, he and Filomena were surprised with a 50th anniversary party, celebrating not only their blessed union, but the life and family they created together. From his siblings, to his wife and four sons and their wives, and ultimately to his adored grandchildren, Domenico provided a hand to hold, a lap to sit on, a ride to and from school. He stopped everything when his children and grandchildren needed him, which was often. "Nonno" was a part of their everyday lives, in every way that mattered, down to his children's pets, especially Abby, Cole, Madge, Rocco and Bailey, whom he walked, fed, and cared for with love and a smile. Even they adored their Nonno, following him around everywhere he walked. Domenico instilled in his four sons beliefs in faith, responsibility and love. With each of their marriages and families, he is visible in all of them. Domenico's imprint on each of them is sacred, precious and infinite. He is survived by his beloved wife Filomena,
