Mr. Donald E. Brunet, Sr. age 71, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at home, after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Utica on June 27, 1949 a son of the late Henry J. Brunet Jr. and June Knapp Doyle and was educated in local schools. On June 6, 1971 he was married to Patricia D. Clement in Calvary Episcopal Church, a loving and blessed union of 49 years. Donald was employed for many years as a Bank Courier with the Oneida National Bank, until his retirement. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather his family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved wife Patricia, his daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Russell Schreck, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL.; his son and daughter-in-law Donald E. Jr. and Jodie Christina Brunet of Dolgeville; his beloved grandsons Donald Brunet III, Ryon and wife Nicole Bengough, Russell Schreck III, Joseph Schreck, and Valdez Brunet; his beloved great grandchildren Leyla, Wayne and James; one brother and sister-in-law William C. and Elaine Brunet; three sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara and Philip Janicki, Cathy and Russell Schaffer and Christine and Rafael Reyes; his in-laws Heidemarie Brunet, Barbara and John Gwilt, Jackie Campese, Mary Jean Baker, David Valentine and Terri and James and Betty McGinley and many nieces and nephews, especially Johnny and Jackie Gwilt who were always there for Don and were especially compassionate and helpful during his illness. He was predeceased by his brother Henry Brunet III, sister Patricia Jean Brunet, and brother-in-law James Baker. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during Don’s illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday February 13, 2021 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph/St. Patrick Church, Columbia St. Utica. All COVID protocols will be required, face masks, social distancing and church trace signing. We ask for your patience during this time and please arrive to church early for trace signing.
