Elizabeth "Peg" Whitney, age 91, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 27, 1932 in Upper Jay, NY, a daughter of the late, Earl and Florence (Smith) Withers. Peg was a graduate of UFA. She was employed with GE, Farrington, ParTech and would later be self-employed as a home health aide as well as day care provider. On August 5, 1950, Peg married Harold Whitney in Utica, a blessed union of 30 years prior to his passing on September 25, 1980.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Christopher) Johnson; her sons, William "Bill" (Francine) Whitney and Bob (Sue) Whitney; special sons-in-law; Rich Mrowka and Tom Scholl; her beloved grandchildren, Michael Mrowka, Alexandria Whitney, Hamilton (Lauren) Whitney, Taylor (Brittne) Whitney, Harrison (Jazmyn) Whitney, Blythe (Jay) Hoerr, and Liam Whitney; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; Lucille Aquaviva and Eva Withers as well as several nieces and nephews. Peg was predeceased by her daughter, Maribeth White and her brothers, Norman Withers, Earl Withers, Gary Withers and Paul Withers
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 4 PM to 5 PM at the Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, 1122 Culver Ave, Utica. Funeral services will commence immediately following visitation at the funeral home at 5 PM. Private interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery where Peg will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Harold.
