Elizabeth (Carlesimo-Saporito) Whitaker

Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Carlesimo-Saporito) Whitaker, age 74, of Richmond, KY passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

She was born on June 30, 1941 in Utica, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Lauria Carlesimo. She was married to Joseph Saporito for 24 years until his passing in 1984. She then was wed to Jim Whitaker a blessed union of 29 years. Betty was a retired department manager for Elder Beerman Co. and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, KY.

Surviving are her husband Jim of KY; two sons, Frank Saporito (Kim) of Georgia, Joe Saporito and one daughter, Maria Chapman, both of Ohio; one step-daughter, Toni King; four sisters, Fay Ciancaglini (Frank Ferraro), Joyce (Ralph) Squillace, Linda Nole-Knight (Richard), and Gail (John) Malozzi; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; her in-laws Jane Doti, Anthony Saporito and Frank and Nikki Saporito; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Virginia Viscosi. She was predeceased by her step-son, Michael Whitaker.

There will be no public visitation.

Betty's family will honor her life in a private committal ceremony in Calvary Cemetery, New Hartford, with the Rev. Jim Sichko officiating.
