Mrs. Giuseppina “Josephine-Pina” Tagliarini Mauro, age 81, of Whitesboro, N.Y., passed away on Sunday March 13, 2022, in Pompano Beach, FL. as the result of a motor vehicle accident. She was born in Acquaviva Platani, Province di Caltanisetta (Sicily) Italy on July 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Filomena Tagliarini and immigrated to the US in 1970. She married the love of her life Giuseppe (Joseph) Mauro on October 25, 1958, in Sicily, Italy. A blessed union of 58 years, until his passing on November 17, 2016.
Pina worked side by side with her husband Giuseppe when they operated Mr. Joseph’s Tailor Shop. A trade that she was very good at. She enjoyed making coffee and serving cookies for anyone that walked into her house and always had a bag of cookies for them to take home. Pina will always be remembered as a selfless soul with an angelic touch and deep love for everyone who knew her. She lived for her children and her grandchildren. She was the most generous person one can ask for. You could always count on her to bring a dish of cookies or her Pizza Con Ricotta to a party that everyone looked forward to. She will be missed so much. “Ti vogliamo molto bene Ma.”
Surviving are her beloved children, Rosa and Mace Szuba, Carmelina Corn and Harry Botsivales, Annamaria and Jim Giruzzi, Dominick and Rose Mauro, Ricardo and Tammy Mauro, and Brian and Michel Mauro; her cherished grandchildren: Vincenzo and Sarah Giruzzi, Ricardo and Lindsay Giruzzi , Daniel and Jessica Szuba, Cassandra Szuba, Alexandria Corn and Alex Sellers, Briana Corn, Joseph and Nina Mauro, Marisa Mauro, Maryrose Mauro, Antonio Mauro, Giuseppe Mauro and girlfriend, Bella Starsiak, Talia Mauro, Daniella Mauro, Dean Mauro, and Giuseppe Mauro, and great-grandchildren: Dominic Mauro, Sonny Giruzzi, Jack, Abigail, and Ryan Szuba; Pina’s siblings and their spouses Vincenzo and Donata Tagliarini, Calogero and Pina Tagliarini, Salvatore and Filomena Tagliarini, Lino and Annunziata Tagliarini, Gino Carduccio. ; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Catherine and John Plado Costante, Salvatore and Michele Mauro, Maria and David Tucci, Gina and Joseph Burke, Dominick and Jean Mauro and Anthony and Karen Mauro; and many beautiful nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was predeceased by her son Antonio Mauro, her sister Anna Carduccio, and her sister Antoinetta Palumbo who passed away also on the same day a few hours later.
There will be no public visitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 in St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. Private interment will be in Carr Cemetery, Marcy.
The family will receive all visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.
