Gloria A. (Critelli) Giglio, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Eastern Star Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on March 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Dominick and Lena (Esposito) Critelli. Gloria graduated from T.R. Proctor High School. On July 4, 1950, Gloria married Russell T. Giglio, a blessed union of 38 years prior to his passing on February 7, 1989.
Gloria was employed by General Electric Radio Receiver and then Mutual Distributors where she took great pride in running the jewelry counter until her retirement. However, her most rewarding job was raising her children and being “Gramma” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed Sunday dinners at 1 PM. Gloria enjoyed playing Bingo, betting the ponies at OTB, and never turned down the chance to play the slots at the Turning Stone.
She is survived by: her loving children, daughter, Linda Giglio Roberts, two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas (Tina) Giglio and Lawrence (Valerie) Giglio, and daughter-in-law, Denise Giglio; her cherished grandchildren, David (Johanna) Lopiccolo, Robert (Julie) Lopiccolo, Beth Ann (Carl) Nora, Daniella Giglio, Nicole (Daniel) Stickane, Lawrence (Erin) Giglio, Alicia (Patrick) Suarez, Russell Giglio, Taylor (John) Burke and Thomas Giglio; her 15 great-grandchildren; her sister, Deanna Still and brother-in-law, Frank Hierl, as well as several nieces and nephews. Gloria was predeceased by: her son, Robert T. Giglio; her siblings, Mary (Mike) Morice, Louis (Leona) Critelli, Richard (Toni) Critelli and Patricia (Anthony) Calenzo; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carmine Thomas and Rose (Tartaglia) Giglio; her brothers-in-law, Timmy Giglio and Gary Giglio, and her sister-in-law, Dolores Hierl.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Funeral services will commence immediately following visitation at 6 PM at the funeral home. Private interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery where Gloria will be laid to rest next to her beloved Russell.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Gloria’s name may be made to the Luke 18:1 Foundation, in honor of her great-grandson, Luke Stickane, and the Alzheimer's Association, in memory of her son, Robert T. Giglio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The Giglio family would like to extend a special thanks to Gloria’s caregiver Senada, whose care allowed Gloria to live in the comfort of her own home up until recently. In addition, they would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Eastern Star Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion shown during her brief stay.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica.
