Jacqueline H. Ciaglia

Jacqueline H. Ciaglia, age 94, passed away on Friday April 28, 2017 in the privacy of her home, as she had wished.

She was born in Paris, France on January 7, 1923, the daughter of the late Jules and Jeanne Chicault. Jacqueline was educated in France and became a social worker in 1944 during World War II. She joined the Red Cross and was assigned to a shelter caring for local refugees. She remained in Paris until she married Pasquale Ciaglia, a U.S. Army doctor stationed there during the war. They were married on August 18, 1945 and lived in Paris until Dr. Ciaglia was transferred back to the U.S. Jacqueline followed shortly after and they settled in Utica, his hometown.

Together they opened Dr. Ciaglia's office for the practice of chest surgery. She was the office manager for over 40 years.

Jacqueline loved traveling with her husband both in Europe and the U.S. She was passionate about the arts and music, especially opera.

Dr. Ciaglia passed away on May 23, 2000, after 55 years of marriage.

Jacqueline leaves behind her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stephen Hague, two step-granddaughters Tracy and Lynda and their families, special deLalla family cousins and goddaughters Tricia and Gina and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service and Celebration of Life at The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, 2222 Genesee St., Utica, at 11:00 am on Saturday May 20, 2017. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Internment will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
