James E. Recknall, Jr.

July 20, 1936 — January 9, 2019

Mr. James E. Recknall, Jr. age 82 of Frankfort, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday January 9, 2019 at the Sitrin Healthcare Center, with the love and support of his beloved family.

He was born in Utica on July 20, 1936 son of the late James E., Sr. and Melissa Reed Recknall and was a graduate of UFA High School. He served our country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. On May 5, 1956 he was married to Marie Curtacci in St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro, a blessed union of 62 years.

Jim began his work career with the General Electric Co. for 25 years. He then worked for the New York Power Authority for over 20 years, as an Information Systems Specialist, until his retirement. In his younger years Jim was an avid Bowler and was a Bowling Coach for the Junior League at Pin-O-Rama Bowling Center. His favorite pastime was playing golf, something he truly enjoyed. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly. He will be forever missed.

Surviving are his beloved wife Marie; one son James M. Recknall and Fred Polito of Frankfort; his daughter Karen Recknall of Utica; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Anthony and Carol Curtacci of Whitesboro and several nieces and nephews, especially Cindy James for her love and devotion to both Jim and Marie. He also leaves his canine grand-dogs Gunner, Cooper and Limonade.

Visiting hours will be held Friday (today) from 5-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave.  His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Burrstone Rd. Private interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.

The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff of the Rehabilitation Unit and the Sequoia Household of the Sitrin Healthcare Center, for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Steven Swan Humane Society in memory of James. Envelopes will be available.
