John F. Borruso, age 89, of Utica, passed away on Friday October 16, 2026, at the Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Rome, NY on October 28, 1936, a son of the late Leonard and Rose Guidera Borruso and was educated in local schools. On July 19, 1975, he was married to Frances Baran in Holy Trinity Church, a loving and blessed union of 51 years.

John began his work career at the age of 17 years old with the Joseph & Feiss Co. starting as a bundle boy and worked his way up to be the Finish Press Room foreman. He retired in 1992, after 40 years of dedicated service. In his retirement, John would do tailoring and pressing for his family and customers. John was also a “Jack of all trades”, he could fix anything. A self-taught, humble and simple man, John was always there to lend a helping hand. In his spare time, he would tend to his garden with his wife Frances.

John was a loving and devoted husband and father whose life centered around his family. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Surviving is his beloved wife Frances “Fran”; his son Michael Borruso and his daughter Karen Borruso; his mother-in-law Lottie Baran and his sister-in-law Hedy Anselman and many nieces and nephews, especially his nephew Salvatore “Sal” Borruso, Jr., whom John had a close relationship with. He also leaves his dear neighbors, Frank and Janice DeGiglio and Tony “Winks” Giacovelli, who were always in contact with John.

He was predeceased by two sisters Josephine “Nina” Morrison and Patricia Gaetano and six brothers, Leonard, Joseph, Carmen, Anthony “Tony”, Salvatore, Sr. and James Borruso.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday October 23rd at 12:00 noon in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of Mass in church.
