Joseph A. Nesci, Jr. age 94, of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday September 3, 2023, in the comfort of his home with the love and support of his wife and children.
He was born in Utica, on August 4, 1929, a son of the late Joseph and Marie Antonia Costa Nesci and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. Joe furthered his education and graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a BS Degree in Engineering. Joe served our country during the Korean War in the US Army from 1948-1953. On September 4, 1954, he was married to the love of his life Raffaella Centolella in Mt. Carmel Church, a loving and blessed union of 69 years.
Joe was employed as an engineer with the Federal Govt. at GAFB for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of St. John Commandry # 385 and the Italian Heritage Club. A loving and humble man, Joe centered his life around his family, whom he loved dearly. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved wife Raffaella “Babe”; one daughter Diane Colicci of PA.; two sons and daughters-in-law Joseph and Danielle Nesci of NJ and Vincent and Karen Nesci of New Hartford; his cherished grandchildren Michael and Lisa Nesci, Kayla Nesci and fiancé Aaron Mattice, Lindsey and Jamie Loy, Loni D. Babcock, Nikolette D. Nesci, Robert and Jackie Rimmer, Heather Nesci and Gabrielle Nesci; one sister Nina Onystk of IL.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Frank (Frances) Nesci and his sister Viola (John) Corletto, his in laws, Lena Centolella, Ruth (Ed) Glatt, Dolores (James) Miller, Rose (Tony) Sinisgalli, Thomas (Carmella) Centolella, Louis (Nicolena) Centolella and Fred Centolella and his son-in-law Angelo Colicci.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:00 am in St. John Evangelist Church, New Hartford with Military Honors. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CABVI or the American Cancer Society in memory of Joseph. Envelopes will be available at the service. The Knights of St. John #385 will fallout for church Mass on Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
