Joseph A. Romanelli

Mr. Joseph A. Romanelli, age 74, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Utica on October 26, 1938 a son of the late Antonio and Adeline Desimone Romanelli and was educated in local schools, having been a graduate of UFA

Class of 1956. He was married to Mable Perkins in 1959, a blessed union of 48 years, until her passing in 2007.

Joe was a proud and dedicated member of the UPD, having been appointed in 1961, and worked his way up through the ranks of patrolman, sergeant, detective, lieutenant to captain, retiring in 1987.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose life was completely dedicated to his family. His family will forever cherish his memory in their hearts.

Surviving are three loving daughters and one son-in-law Theresa Romanelli of Manlius, Maria Romanelli of New Hartford and Rosanne and Steven Duke of Whitesboro; three cherished grandsons David, Nicholas and Joseph; one brother and sister-in-law Vincent and Virginia Romanelli; one sister Ida Bottaro and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Frank (US Army 1945), John and Patsy; one sister Mary Buehler, in-laws Anthony Bottaro and MaryLou Romanelli.

There will be no public visitation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of mass in church.
