Joseph M. Soldato

Mr. Joseph M. Soldato, age 89, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at the Katherine Luther Home.

He was born on January 4, 1927 in Utica, a son of the late Frank and Rose Sarcone Soldato. Educated locally, he also graduated from the NYS Institute of Arts and Science.

Joseph proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War Conflict. On June 14, 1951 he was joined in marriage to Carol Lombard in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, a blessed union of 64 years until her passing on December 27, 2015.

Joe was employed by Bendix Corp. for many years as a Layout Inspector until his retirement. He was also an Officer and Past President of the Steel Workers Union for 20 years.

Surviving are his two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Sue Soldato of CT, and William J. and Lucille Soldato of Deerfield, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen Ann and Jonathan Bradley of Delaware; five grandchildren, Steven Soldato and Samantha Montanaro, Maria and Mike Spohrer, Dominique Soldato, Frank Soldato and Kira Bradley; five great-grandchildren Adrianna Soldato, Evelyn and Delilah Spohrer, Anthony Soldato and Alex Montanaro; one brother, Rosario Soldato; in-laws Marie Soldato, Gladys and Mike Wojanowski, Anthony (Butch) and Joseph Palladino and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Frank Soldato and three sisters Sarah Mikalajunas, Anne Jalonack-Collard and Lucille Gleba.

His funeral will be held on Monday at 11:30 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. and at 12:30 pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with Military Honors Conferred. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday morning from 10:30 am until 11:30 am at the funeral home.
