Joseph A. Tomassetti

Mr. Joseph A. Tomassetti, age 82, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family by his side.

He was born in Utica on August 19, 1936,  a  son of the late Joseph and Rose "Daisy" Zarlengo Tomassetti, and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.  On April 29, 1961 he was married to Joan Robinson in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, a loving and blessed union of 57 years.  Joe was employed for over 35 years at Associated Textile Rental Services (Abeloves Linen Co.) retiring at the company as the Fleet Director. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch his Philadelphia Phillies and Syracuse Orangeman. He also enjoyed spending winters with this wife and family in Florida.  A humble and kind man, Joe's main focus in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. His family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Surviving are his beloved wife Joan; his beloved son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Suzy Tomassetti of Jupiter, FL. and his beloved daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Barry Hall of Oriskany; four cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Julia and Jennifer Hall and Marisa and Joey Tomassetti; two sisters Marilyn Sardina and Jacqueline and husband John Farrell; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Joann Tomassetti; in-laws Richard and Diane Robinson and several loving nieces and nephews. He also leaves many dear friends especially Dolores Citriniti, Dina and Joe Russo, the Hall family, and the Rossi family.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Virginia Tomassetti and Betty Lebioda and husband Ed; mother in-law and father-in-law Ruth and Carlton Robinson, in-laws Jack Sardina and Gary Robinson.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday (today) from 2-5 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 am in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
