Lorraine Rose Fanelli, 71, of New Hartford, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare. She was born on June 24, 1947 in Utica.
Lorraine attended local schools and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. On November 18, 1967, Lorraine was united in marriage to the love of her life and best friend, Salvatore J. Fanelli at St. Agnes Church in Utica. The two shared a loving union of 50 years. Lorraine was employed with The William Schmidt Agency, in Utica for thirty years until retiring.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Lorraine’s family meant everything to her. Her son Vinny was her pride and joy. She was very appreciative of how dedicated he was to her and Sam, and loved watching him be an amazing father and wonderful husband. She was most proud of and had a very special bond with her granddaughter, Amanda who was the light of her life. Shopping trips with her daughter-in-law, granddaughter and sisters, family get-togethers and Sunday dinners were her most precious times. She was a marvelous cook and took great pride in creating an immaculate, warm and welcoming home. She always had a great sense of humor, always keeping her family on their toes.
Surviving are her beloved and devoted husband, Salvatore, her cherished and loving son and daughter-in-law, Vincent J. and Danielle Fanelli; her precious and loving granddaughter, Amanda Fanelli and her fiancé, John Calabrese. Lorraine also leaves behind her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Dennis Philipkoski, Rae Ann and Lawrence Pisano, with whom she shared a special bond. She also leaves her in-laws, Vincent Fanelli, and Patricia and Michael Smith. Included are many special nieces and nephews; Lisa Salerno (Dino Rachiele) of FL., Dennis (Sherri) Philipkoski, Cheryl (Steven) Gossin, Michael (Shannon) Smith, Christine Smith, Vanessa (Stanley) Rejrat and John (Danielle) Fanelli; along with many beloved great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special cousins, Phillip and Carol Scampone and Lynarda Girmonde. She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Laura Whorley, and her in-laws, John and Frances Fanelli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 am at St John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Rd., New Hartford, NY. In keeping with Lorraine’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family wishes extend a special thank you to Dr. Najam Din, the 6th floor nurses and the PCU staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care given to her.
