Louis F. LaPorte, age 59, of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on Thursday February 12, 2026, at the Wynn Hospital.
He was born in Utica on January 20, 1967, a son of Orazio (Ray-Speed) LaPorte and the late Helen Eddy LaPorte and was educated in local schools having graduated from TR Proctor High School. After meeting in 2013, Louis and Rebecca Lewek shared a loving 13-year journey, marrying July 18, 2020, on First Lake in Old Forge, NY, a blessed union of over five years of marriage."
Louis was employed with the City of Utica School District as Head Custodian at Albany Elementary School. In addition, together with his close friend and mentor, Mike Dziura, they had a business called Silverado Painting.
Louis was an avid outdoorsman. He had a love of all outdoor activities and was a sports enthusiast. His favorite pastime was golfing, a sport which truly brought him much joy. A loving and devoted son, husband, brother and uncle, he will be sadly missed, but his family will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving is his beloved wife, Rebecca; his father Orazio (Ray-Speed) LaPorte; three sisters Michele A. LaPorte, Mary T. (Matthew) Ryan and Donna LaPorte; his nephews Corey Ryan and Mackey (Carolyn) White; his aunts Kathleen Eddy, Joyce Eddy and Kathleen Lewek; his uncle George (Laurie) LaPorte; his mother-in-law Lizabeth Walker, the Sherwood Family, Lorene, Chris, Noah and Sofia and many cousins. Louis also had many friends he considered family too numerous to name individually. He also leaves his canine companions Amos, Jake and Stevie and his feline companion Kiko.
Louis was predeceased by his mother Helen LaPorte and father-in-law Richard Lewek.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 19th from 4-6 pm at The Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica. Funeral service prayers will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers and food, remembrances in Louis’ name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or online. If needed to acknowledge your donation, please use Rebecca.Lewek@gmail.com.
