Lucette Y. Hewko

Frankfort- Lucette Y. Hewko, age 85, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital.

She was born in Herck-la-ville, Belgium on June 15, 1939, a daughter of the late Louie and Nellie (Carpentier) Vandermeulen. Lucette graduated from local schools and would go on to obtain her degree in Physical Therapy. On June 3, 1960, she married the love of her life, Dr. Walter J. Hewko in Belgium, a blessed union of 45 years prior to his passing on April 7, 2006.

Lucette is survived by her loving children, Giselle Hewko, Co, Carl (Metza) Hewko, Ogdensburg, Ann (Bob) Drummond, Frankfort, Patricia Hewko, FL, Mark (Cheri) Hewko, PA, Greg (April) Hewko, VA, Claire (Ken) Moore, FL, Monica (Bill) Carlisle, Nichoville, Fr. David Hewko, New Hampshire, Marla Hewko, CA, and Brother Anthony Hewko, MN; 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jenny Vandermeulen, her brother, Peter Vandermeulen and several nieces and nephews of the Rouvroy and Vandermeulen family that she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Luc Vandermeulen and her sister, Paula Rouvroy.

In keeping with Lucette’s wishes, funeral services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest, next to her beloved husband, Dr. Walter Hewko in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam.

A memorial gathering for Lucette will be held at Chesterfield’s Tavolo, 131 N Genesee St, Utica, NY 13502 on Wednesday, June 18 at 4:30 PM where relatives and friends are welcome to join and celebrate a life well lived.
