Lucy Barretta, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Siegenthaler Center.
She was born on September 28, 1951 in Sidney, NY a daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Mott) Williams. Lucy graduated from Holland Patent Schools and would go on to attend MVCC where she would meet her first husband, Dominick Caracas. They were married on April 8, 1972. She held various secretarial and administrative support positions throughout her career but would retire as an administrative assistant for the Oneida County Sheriff's Department for Undersheriff Paravati.
Lucy’s character was marked by her deep and long-abiding devotion to God. She attended and was a member of several area churches through the years, namely Life Church in Rome (formerly Spirit & Life), Redeemer in Utica, and most recently an active member of Reimagine church on Sunset Avenue in Utica. She loved her granddaughter, Gabby, beyond measure and spent many afternoons playing with her, taking her shopping, and giving her an audience to dance when she went to visit her at The Meadows. Her service to others in the purpose of serving God was central in her life and the focal point of her final years left with us.
Lucy is survived by her loving son, Matthew (Magdalena) Caracas; her granddaughter, Gabriella Caracas; her siblings, Carol Armstrong (Jim Finch) and Bob Williams along with her nieces and nephew, Kelly (Brian) Hansen, Janel (Chris) Foster and David (Jessica) Armstrong and her first husband, Dominick Caracas.
