Mark W. McLane, age 62, of Whitesboro, passed away on January 13, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospitalafter a courageous battle with cancer. Mark was born on November 28, 1954 in Auburn, NY, the son of William J. & Ruth O'Connell McLane. Mark grew up in Lowville, NY, and graduated from Lowville Academy. He received his Bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego and his Juris Doctorate fromthe University of Buffalo Law School. He began his career at Kernan and Kernan Law Firm in Utica in 1980, where he later became a partner. In 1999, Mark established the law firm of McLane, Smith & Lascurettes where he practiced until his retirement in 2014. Mark was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother John P. (Kathryn) McLane of Auburn, NY and his sister Kathleen A. (Richard) Cooney of Riverhead, Long Island, and by his partner of many years, Debra A. Flihan of Whitesboro. Mark is also survived by seven nieces and nephews (Casey Jackson, Kellen Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Daniel McLane, Douglas McLane, Molly McLane-Valli and Mary Claire Pineau), and twelve grandnieces and grandnephews.

There will be no calling hours per Mark's wishes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 21, at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Genesee St. Utica. The family will greet visitors following the mass in church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mark's memory may be made to the United Way of the Valley & Greater Utica Area, Inc., 201 Lafayette Street, Suite 201, Utica, NY 13502.
