Mary A. Stevens

Mrs. Mary A. Stevens, age 98, of Utica, passed away on Sunday April 22, 2018 at the Masonic Care Community, with the love and support of her beloved family.
She was born on January 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Jesse and Anna (Handley) Russell and was educated in the Utica City Schools. On June 9, 1940, she married Grover Stevens and enjoyed a blessed union of 34 years until his passing on June 23, 1974.
Mary was always known for her dedication to her family. As a lover of music, she was involved in the church choir at St. Francis de Sales Church. As years went on, Mary’s focus was the care of her home and made sure that everyone was welcomed there. Mary was also an original member of the Disco Dolly's
Surviving are her two beloved daughters, Barbara Alesandro of Utica and Diane Nicotera of New York Mills; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two sons- in law, Frank Alesandro and James Nicotera.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 10:30AM to 12:00 noon . at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visition at 12:00 noon in the funeral home with the Rev. Arthur Krawczenko officiating. Private interment will take place at Waterville Cemetery.
Mary's family would like to extend thier sincere gratitude to the Inlet Household Staff of the Masonic Care Community for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Mary during her time at the home.
