Maryann Dolores Gorea

Maryann Dolores Gorea, age 89, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday April 15, 2025, at The Wynn Hospital with her beloved sister Michelle, by her side.

She was born in Utica on September 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Philip and Carmel Cerullo Gorea and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School.

Maryann began her employment with her father in the operation of the family business Gorea’s Motor Express Co. She then was employed with The General Electric Co. in Utica and also worked for many years in the SUNY System and State Agencies in Albany and Syracuse, until her retirement.

Surviving are her dear and devoted sister Michele Gorea Thompson, her nephews and nieces Louis (Mamie) Faga and Gianmarco Faga, Jon (Diann) Gorea, Gregory (Dena) Gorea, and Judi Gorea (Gail Pulizzi), great nieces and nephews Anthony Gorea, Gregory Jon Gorea, Samantha Gorea Dalbis (Nick), Tiffany Gorea, Nikki (Greg) Tomidy, grand-nieces Saoirse Jane Faga, and Giuliane Tomidy and grand-nephew Sullivan Joseph Faga; she also leaves her special cousin and godchild Joyce Carmel Cerullo and dear cousins of “The John Scialdone Family” and her extended family Christopher Tuttle and Bruce Bonello.

She was predeceased by her parents, her stepmother Vivian (Krypel) Gorea, her brothers Jon Gorea and Philip Gorea, Jr., brother-in-law Peter Horan Thompson, sister-in-law Jacqueline (Castelli) Gorea, her dear cousins Whitney, Marie and Janice Cerullo and her cousin and godchild Joanne Colacicco MacMaster.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday April 30, 2025, at 10:00 am in Mary, Mother of Our Savior Church 2222 Genesee St. Utica, (Our Lady of Lourdes Campus). The family will greet all visitors at the conclusion of mass.

Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Utica Public Library or the charity of your choice in memory of Maryann.

A Thank You is extended to the Doctors, nurses and staff of the Wynn Hospital for their care and compassion given during this difficult time.
