Utica- Michele A. Giruzzi, age 69, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Upstate Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 7, 1956, a daughter of the late, James J. and Dolores (Centolella) Miller. Michele graduated from T. R. Proctor High School and would go on to be employed in various city and county government positions throughout her career, lastly with the Oneida County Board of Elections, where she served as Deputy Democrat Commissioner, until her retirement. On September 5, 1998, she married Carmen “Tumby” Giruzzi in Whitesboro, a blessed union of 27 years.
Michele is survived by her loving husband, Carmen “Tumby”; her children, Amanda Casaletta, Barbara Casaletta, Nicole Giruzzi and Ashure Dee (Aaron) Hartkopf; her beloved grandchildren, Emmanuel, Andrianna, Douglas, Gia’ Mari, Dominica, Gianna, Khloe and Sophia; her great-grandchildren, Marceline and Adriel Anthony; her sister, Marlena (Chris) Heins; her brother, James “Jim” (Lynn) Miller; her in-laws, John (Kim) Giruzzi, Francine (Stephen) Daley, Michael (Sharon) Giruzzi, and Christopher Giruzzi as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 12 Noon, in Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Michele’s family will receive all guests following the Mass. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
The Giruzzi family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Surgical ICU and the 8th floor at Upstate Medical Center, especially Dr. Anna Wu, for the care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
