Nellie (Ayoub) Jacobs

Mrs. Nellie (Ayoub) Jacobs, age 94, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday December 3, 2014 at the Sitrin Health Care Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 4, 1920 in Utica, a daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Ferris Ayoub, and was educated in local schools. Nellie was joined in marriage to Michael Jacobs, a blessed union until his passing in 1983.

Nellie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. She will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones.

She was employed for many years with UNIVAC and then with the Par-Technology Co., until her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. George Orthodox Church.

Surviving are four loving sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Loraine Jacobs, Dennis (Jake) and Phyllis Jacobs, Fred and Nancy Jacobs, and Neil and Diane Jacobs; her cherished grandchildren, Michael III and Vicki Jacobs, Aaron and Amy Jacobs, Nathan Jacobs, Dennis Jacobs Jr., Alicia Jacobs, David and Tatiana Jacobs, Adam Jacobs, Andrea and Patrick Merdan, Betty Jo Jacobs and fiancAC. Jason Dayton, Kelly and Angelo Colicci, Fred Jacobs Jr. and fiancAC. Annabelle Randall, Nicole and Shaun McDaniels and Shannon Jacobs; several great-grandchildren; her in-laws Helen Ayoub and John and Helen Jacobs and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Fred, Theodore and Joseph Ayoub; and three sisters, Rose Haddad, Anne Constance and Zifa Ficcara.

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 am from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., and at 11:00 am in St. George Orthodox Church 350 Higby Rd., New Hartford. Private interment will be in ForestHillCemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.

The family extends a special Thank You to the staff of the Sycamore Household at the Sitrin Health Care Community for their care and compassion given to Nellie.
