Peter John Fedorka

Ret. Sergeant Peter John Fedorka, age 29 of Greensboro, NC formerly of Mayfield, NY passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at his home.

Peter was born August 5, 1983 in Ithaca, NY, the son of James & Holly Fedorka of Clayville, NY.

Peter was a retired Sergeant from the US Army 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Division. Peter served 10 years including two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He received the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Peter also spent time at West Point training cadets and received US Army Recruiter of the Year award while stationed in Long Island, NY. He was a member of Triad Baptist church and enjoyed working on cars, loved music and his greatest joy was being a father to his two sons.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his sons, Braden(5), Devan(4) and their mother Abby Reid Fedorka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Chivon and Rob Pedersen of Frankfort, NY and Leah and Joshua Lloyd of Holland Patent, NY; paternal grandmother Betty Fedorka of Lansing, NY; three nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Funeral services will be at the conclusion of visiting hours at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with military honors. The Rev. Dr. Mary Webster will officiate.

In memory of Peter, donations may be made to the family for the benefit of his two children, Braden and Devan.
