Mr. Peter Horan Thompson age 71, of New Hartford, died peacefully on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at his home with his loved ones by his side.

He was born in Watertown, NY on December 19, 1942 a son of the late Lloyd and Ruth Horan Thompson and was a graduate of The Manlius School and St. JohnFischerCollege.

He was married for many years to Venita Brown Thompson, until her passing in 2007.

Pete's employment began as an accountant for the Xerox Corp. He then became employed in the Linen Sales Industry having worked for Unifirst, Artex Int'l of NYC creating linens for, Tavern on the Green, The Plaza, Russian Tea Room, and most recently was employed by, Robison & Smith Co. until his retirement in 2012.

Pete was blessed to have the love of his wife, Michelle Gorea Thompson, whom he married on June 6, 2009 a blessed union of 5 years.

Those who knew Peter respected him as a gentle man, yet, possessing strength, confidence, dignity and a mentoring style that affected many. He treasured his time at their home in Saratoga; his love for horses, pristine lawns & was passionate about ARMY FOOTBALL! A true gentleman in every sense of the word, He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Privileged to be his Pall Bearers are; Rich Evans, Elis DeLia, David Hayes, Ralph Fusco, Mike Karl, Wayne Baran and Terry Curtis.

Surviving are his beloved wife Michelle and her sons Louis Faga and wife Mamie of Utica and Gianmarco Faga of New Hartford; three sons and daughters-in-law Todd and Jacquie Schraffenberger of Walworth, NY, Brent and Michelle Schraffenberger of MD. and Craig and Christine Schraffenberger of TX; four grandchildren Trevor, Dakota, Brent Lee and Nicole; one sister-in-law MaryAnn Gorea of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter Cheryl Schraffenberger, his brother Rudy Thompson and wife Kathleen and his brother-in-law Philip J. Gorea, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Private interment will be in HolyTrinityCemetery.

Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-4 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Sheila Lemke and the staff of University Physicians of Oneida, NY, Hospice and Palliative Care and also to Dr. Fred Talerico for their exceptional care and compassion.
