Phyllis A. (Suiter) Hopping

Phyllis A. Hopping, age 79, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday December 19, 2023, after a long battle with emphysema, at the Wynn Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Utica on October 30, 1944, a daughter of the late Edward and Helen Lambert Suiter and was educated in local schools. On August 21, 1993, she was married to Albert Hopping, a blessed union of 11 years until his untimely passing in 2004.

Phyllis was employed for several years at Hotel Utica and subsequently became employed with the M & M Cleaners Co, until her retirement.

She was a loving mother and grandmother whose life centered around her family. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving is her only child, her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Erika Yacobucci of New Hartford; four beloved granddaughters Gabriella, Gianna, Santina and Angelina Yacobucci; two sisters Karen Donlyuk and Shirley Suiter; her best friend Emily Meyers and several extended family members. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Beverly and Linda and 2 brothers Donnie and Jimmy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 27, 2023, from 4-6 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. Funeral service prayers will be at the conclusion of visitation at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
