Robert J. Hennessy, age 90, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Siegenthaler Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 15, 1936, in Sherrill, NY a son of the late Wilbur and Dorothy (Ottaway) Hennessy. Bob would go on to graduate from VVS High School in 1954 and LeMoyne College in 1958 where he obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting. On September 12, 1964, he married the love of his life, Nancy Kane in St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica, a blessed union of 30 years prior to her passing in 1994. Bob worked at various accounting positions in the Utica area and served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. In 1966, he accepted a position in the accounting department at Oneida Limited until his retirement in 1998.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, dance and music recitals throughout the years. His family will hold his memory in their hearts forever.

Bob is survived by his loving daughters, Ellen (Kevin) Scranton and Marianne (Marshal) Smith; his cherished grandchildren, Noah and Emma Scranton and Abigail Smith; his sisters, Jean (Robert) Nicholson and Nancy (David) Greene; his in-laws, Bruce (Irene) Daniels, Eugene (Patricia) Nuding and Marianthe Kane as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Hennessy, his in-laws, Robert (Joan) Frankland, John Kane and his nephew and niece, Brad and Laura Frankland.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11 AM at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His family will receive guests following the Mass. Private interment will take place in St. Stanislaus & St. Casimir Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Nancy.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Bob’s name may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Inc or Feed Our Vets. Envelopes will be available at the Mass.

The Hennessy family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the MVHS Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. and the Siegenthaler Center for the care and compassion shown Bob.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica.
