Robert and Joan (Bob) Leogrande

Mr. Robert (Bob) Leogrande age 85, passed away on Thursday March 21, 2013 and his beloved wife Mrs. Joan (Taylor) Leogrande, age 82, passed away on Sunday March 17, 2013. They left this world together, just four days apart, with their loving family by their side.

Bob was born in Utica, on February 7, 1928, a son of the late Nicola and Immaculata Castellano-Nistro Leogrande; and a beloved brother of the late Cosmo, Frank, Nicholas and Mario Leogrande; and an uncle to Anne and Fred Bruzzese and Ursula and James DelMonte. He was a graduate of TR Proctor High School and MVCC in Mechanical engineering. He served our country in the US Navy. Bob retired from Chicago Pneumatic after 30 years of service. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing with friends at Hidden Valley Golf Course. He kept his sense of sarcasm and humor right to the very end.

Joan was born in Sauquoit, NY on February 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Ambrose and Olivine Belanger Taylor; and a beloved sister of Gloria Locke, Norman & Jan Taylor, Paul (Bobby) & Miriam Taylor, and Lanny & Lois Taylor. She graduated from SauquoitHigh School and attended SUNY at Postdam for music. Joan worked as a voter registration and election day volunteer for a number of years. She loved to laugh and inspired her family with her love of the arts. Joan was a big sports fan, her favorite team was Syracuse. You could hear her cheering miles away! She also enjoyed golfing with family and friends.

Joan and Bob were married on May 29, 1954, in Clayville, NY, and they shared 58 years of marriage, leaving this world "together", just as they lived it. They were devoted and loving children to their parents, as well as being devoted and loving parents, to their own children and grandchildren. Their lives truly centered around their family.

Surviving are their six beloved children; Rene Leogrande & Bradley Holland of San Francisco, CA, David Leogrande, of Huntington Beach, CA, Christine & John Ferro of Remsen, NY, Pamela & Patrick Brown of Avon, CT, John & Kim Leogrande of Utica, NY and Patricia Leogrande of Apex, NC; nine cherished grandchildren, Deanna Ferro-Aurience & Anthony Aurience of Utica, NY, Eric J. Ferro of Boston, MA, Nicole Leogrande of Huntington Beach, CA, Rochelle Ferro of Utica, NY, Molly Brown of Avon, CT, Kevin Brown of Avon, CT, Brendon Brown of Avon, CT, Garrett Leogrande of Huntington Beach, CA and John Robert Leogrande of Utica, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend their Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, with the Rev. Felix Colosimo officiating. Private interment will be in CalvaryCemetery.

The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in their memory may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Assoc. Envelopes will be available.
