Robert J. “Bob” Roberts, Sr. age 93, went home to the Lord on Thursday April 24, 2025, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Utica on March 21, 1932, son of the late Rosamond O’Brien Roberts, and was educated in local schools. On November 14, 1953, he married Dorothy D’Amico. They were perfect for each other and found so much happiness in their 64 years together. They were a remarkable couple! Dorothy passed away on January 9, 2018.
Bob was employed with the City of Utica Public Works Dept. for over 35 years until his retirement. In his retirement years Bob loved to play bingo at the Turning Stone Casino, billiards and enjoyed horse racing. He was full of life and lived life on his own terms. He was a soft spoken, kind and generous person who would do anything for anyone. Above all Bob loved his family dearly. He was a wonderful dad and grandfather who centered his life around his entire family. His memory will forever live in their hearts.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert Roberts, Jr.; his daughter, Bonnie L. Miner; grandchildren, Robert J. III and Michele Roberts, Paul A. Roberts, Melissa and Amed Cardona, and their mother Jeanette George who was a beloved daughter-in-law; Tory and Heather Rios, Robert J. Rios, and Justin T. Miner. He also knew the love of his daughter-in-law, Linda Roberts. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Max, and Stella Roberts, Antonio Cardona; Alessandro Rios, Gabriella LoConti, Jayce, Angelo, and Lainey Rios; Brianna Miner and Ghian D’Amico Miner, Carlo Cardona and Marco Cardona; his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his best friend Richie Nora.
He was predeceased by his brother John (Jackie) Roberts and two sisters Jean Jackson and Dolores (James) Bonanza; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Salvatore Jr. and Angela D’Amico; and nephew, Donald D’Amico.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday April 29, 2025, at 10:00 am in Historic Old St. Johns Church, Downtown Utica. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of mass in church. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by The Scala, Roefaro & Karboski Funeral Home 1122 Culver Ave., Utica.
