Ronald H. Carlone Sr

December 5, 1933 — May 14, 2016

Mr. Ronald H. Carlone, Sr., 82, of Utica, passed away peacefully at Upstate University Hospital on Saturday, May 14, 2016, with his family by his side.

Ron was born in Utica on December 5, 1933, the son of the late Alphonse H. and Marion Schram Carlone. He attended local schools and was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, class of 1951. Ron immediately went to work at Utica Drop Forge/Kelsey Hayes/Utica Corporation where he was employed as a Master Tool and Gage Maker, a position he held until his retirement in 1994. Ron also served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 in Germany. On May 5, 1962, Ron was united in marriage to the former Theresa Tartaglia, a 54 year union they celebrated last week. During his time at Utica Corporation he was a member of the board of directors for their credit union. Ron was a pipe organ enthusiast. He was part of the crew that worked to restore the pipe organ that was once in the Stanley Theatre and moved to Proctor High School auditorium. He also was proud of the organ that he installed in St. Agnes Church, his home parish. Ron dedicated four years of tireless work to restore, refurbish and install the pipe organ in the church's choir loft. The organ was dedicated in November of 1984. It was a dream that he made come true for his daughter Anne who was the organist at the church. After his retirement Ron served as an altar server for funerals at St. Agnes with his dear friend Msgr. Willenburg for over 15 years. Upon the closing of St. Agnes Church, Ron became a member of Historic Old St. John's Church.

Surviving are his loving wife Theresa; his daughter and son-in-law Anne and David Elacqua of Utica; his son and daughter-in-law Ronald Jr. and Denise (Heitz) of Canastota; his grandchildren who he loved so much, Danielle and Deanna Carlone of Canastota, and David and Nicholas Elacqua of Utica; and a special godson, Ken Brucker of Utica. Ron is also survived by his in-laws, Mary Velardi of Utica; Anna and Dan Tobiasz, Eleanor Masi all of Florida; Michael & Cheryl Tartaglia of Clinton; Lucy Pease of Clarence Center; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Anthony, Joseph and John Tartaglia, James and Goldie Tartaglia and Lucille and Charles Brucker.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. Utica. Ron's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00am at Historic Old St. John's Church with Rev. John Buehler officiating. Kindly consider donations to Abraham House or Historic Old St. John's Organ Fund in memory of Ron.
