Thomas Mariano

Mr. Thomas A. Mariano Jr., age 82, of Utica, passed away on Friday October 11, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He was born on November 28, 1930, in Utica, a son of the late Thomas and Catherine Pendolf Mariano, and was educated in local schools. At one time he was married to the former Carmelita Valenti.

In his early years Tom, owned and operated the Chadwicks Bowling Alley. He was employed by G.A.F.B. in the accounting department for several years, and was also the co-owner of Midland Auto Sales and the Partner's Choice Tavern. He retired several years ago.

Tom had a love for boating and dancing. He was a very gentle person with an outgoing personality who was quite the jokester and conversationalist. He was a loving and devoted father, who will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Surviving are two loving sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth and JoAnn Mariano, and John Mariano, all of Utica; one brother Robert Mariano of Utica and friend, Roslin Mazza of New Hartford; two sisters-in-law, Frances Mariano of Schuyler and Paula Mariano of Chadwicks; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Benjamin and Nicholas Mariano.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the staff at the Saranac unit of the Masonic Care Community who took great care of Tom for a number of years. The family also wishes to acknowledge and express great appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center I.C.U. who showed great compassion and care to Tom and his family.

Tom's funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. from The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home, Inc. 1122 Culver Ave., and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church. Interment will be in St.AgnesCemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
