Miss Ann Marie Poccia, age 79, of MA. formerly of Utica passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2022, at the Linda Manor Residence in Leeds, MA.

She was born in Utica on February 8, 1943, a daughter of the late Louis and Frances (Surace) Poccia and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School.

Ann Marie was a kind and generous person who overcame many handicaps with perseverance and a sense of humor. She was the most knowledgeable historian of her family tree and had a fantastic memory. She was beloved by her extended family, made friends easily and brought smiles to the faces of all who knew her. She was a pure soul. She benefitted from a loving upbringing by her parents who raised her as a confident and caring person. She adored all children and was fond of Derek Jeter, Lawrence Welk, Wheel of Fortune, and found pleasure in singing, knitting and Bingo.

Surviving is her loving brother Dominic Poccia of Northampton, MA.; one nephew Joseph Poccia of Raleigh, NC; two aunts Mary (Surace) Gigliotti of Herkimer and Josephine (Surace) Iocovozzi of FL.; and many dear cousins Valerie (Poccia) Bevivino, Nancy (Poccia) Harding, Emory Poccia, George Surace, Samuel Surace, George Rando, Angela (Rando) Piscitello, John Rando, Adeline (Rando) Gorea, JoAnn (Giambrone) Wheeler, Deborah (Giambrone) Lavallo, Frances Vella, John Vella, Vincent Jacopelle and Michelle (Iocovozzi) O'Neil. She was predeceased by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday Dec. 1, 2022, at 10:30 am in St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, Utica. Private interment will be in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Rockridge Retirement Community of Northampton, MA., where she happily resided for over 10 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at StJude.org or envelopes will be available at church.
