Obituary

Mrs. Antonette “Toni” DiBernardo age 96, formerly of Utica, passed away on Sunday January 31, 2021 at the Abraham House in Rome, with the love and support of her family. She passed away from complications due to COVID 19. Antonette was a resident of the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Clinton, NY.

She was born on April 11, 1924 in Winbor, PA., a daughter of the late Bruno and Mary Rose Laria Pappasergi. On December 16, 1944 she was married to Mario “Dan” DiBernardo in Donora, PA. and the couple settled in Utica. Toni and Dan shared a loving and blessed union of 53 years until his passing in 1998.

Toni was employed with the General Electric Co. in the Radio-Receiver Dept. and the Joseph and Feiss Co. She was also the co-owner along with her husband Dan in the operation of The Pizza Factory at Charlestown Mall. Toni also worked part time at Dan Dee Donuts and was a grandparent volunteer at the United Cerebral Palsy Center. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law Lucille and James Costello of New Hartford and Maryrose and Randy Anderson of PA.; two sons and a daughter-in-law  Louis DiBernardo and Therese (Hobaica) Laffey of Utica and Mario and Cathy (Cook) DiBernardo of Utica; one brother Paul Pappasergi of PA. ; her beloved grandchildren Daniel and Koni Son-DiBernardo, David DiBernardo, Amy and John Winter, and James Costello and wife Dr. Laura Hannibal; six beloved great grandchildren Mina DiBernardo, Isis, Zia and Jericho Costello and Grant and Kate Winter; her step grandson Christopher Cook and wife Ursula and their children Conner and Chase Cook and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother Anthony (Nino) Pappasergi and one sister Christine Costa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Genesee St. Utica. Private entombment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery Mausoleum. Live streaming@youtubeFr.JoeSalerno.The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital and the Abraham House in Rome for their devoted care given to Antonette during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Abraham House in memory of Antonette. Envelopes will be available.  All COVID protocols will be followed, face masks, social distancing and church trace signing.
