Mr. Donald R. Oliver age 77, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday April 13, 2021 at the Albany Medical Center with the love and support of his family.
He was born in Utica on April 29, 1943 a son of the late Raymond G. and Catherine R. Spartano Oliver and was a graduate of TR Proctor High School. On April 9, 1982 he was married to Dawn Goggin in North Carolina, a loving and blessed union of 39 years.
Don was employed with the City of Utica DPW for over 25 years until his retirement in 2012. He was a sports enthusiast and in his younger years was a coach and mentor for many of the children in the Utica area. He was an avid bowler and golfer and a proud NY Yankee and NY Giants fan. Don was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Surviving are his beloved wife Dawn; one daughter Tiffany Oliver and fiancé Ivan Verin of Utica; three sons and daughters-in-law Raymond Oliver and Kim of Syracuse, Donald Jr. and Grace Oliver of New Hartford and David and Josie Oliver of Holland Patent; his cherished grandchildren Stacey, Stephen, Hayley, Taylor, and Madison Oliver, Cory Crandall and Amelia Oliver; his in-laws Ellen Polimeni, Daniel (Sonny) and Judy Goggin, Pat and Gloria Goggin, Jean and Don Dutcher, Joe and Barbara Goggin, Dale Goggin, Sandy and Jack Bell, Dennis and Cheryl Goggin, Denise and Mike Crist, John Goggin and Michael Goggin and several nieces, nephews and dear cousins especially Rocco, Jim and Steven Spartano and their familes. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Renee’.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12:00 noon in St. Mark’s Church, N. Utica. Private interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7 pm at The Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. All COVID protocols will be required both at the funeral home and at church. Face masks, social distancing, visitation and church trace signing will be required. Please omit flowers.
