Joyce M. (Wakeel) Zammiello, age 82, of Utica passed away on Friday November 17, 2023, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Utica on August 1, 1941, a daughter of the late John and Anna Jweid Wakeel and was a graduate of UFA and attended the Utica School of Commerce. On September 22, 1962, she was married to Andrew J. Zammiello in Blessed Sacrament Church, a blessed union of 61 years.
Joyce was employed in the sales industry mainly at Sangertown Mall, until her retirement.
Joyce loved to go camping at Kayuta Lake, also visiting the Jersey Shore and Atlantic City. She was an excellent cook, especially her signature Syrian Cuisine.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Andrew; two daughters and sons-in-law Joelle and Thomas Mikalajunas of NY Mills, and Jennifer and Wayne Rabideau of Utica; two beloved grandsons Justin and Ryan Mikalajunas; her sister and brother-in-law Deanna and George Gish of Las Vegas; her in-laws Linda Wakeel, Cheryl Wakeel and Vincent J. Zammiello; two aunts Jean Zombik and Mary Bates and also her special friends Carol Chiarello, Sue Kazel, Carol Zdan and Katie Jones and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Ronnie and Roger Wakeel and her in-laws Patricia (Mike) Tartaglia and Kathryn Zammiello.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family at the Scala & Roefaro Funeral Home Inc. 1122 Culver Ave. with the Rev. Jason Hage, officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
