UTICA-Lillian (Abdella) Mody, age 93, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Las Vegas, NV., surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on November 12, 1929, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Eddo) Abdella. Lillian graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester, Mass., and the Worcester School of Business Science. In her earlier life, she was employed by the New York State Mental Health Clinic.

Lillian was married to Joseph J. Mody in 1951 in Our Lady of Mercy Church in Worcester, Mass. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage, based on mutual love and respect until his passing on July 1, 2014. Their happy union was rewarded with four beautiful children.

Lillian enjoyed golf, dominoes, canasta, and cooking Lebanese food. She loved the Lord and was a devoted servant throughout her life. Lillian had a humble Christian heart and nurturing her beloved family was the focal point of her life. She was proud of her Lebanese heritage and was, devoted to her Catholic Faith. She was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church as well as past parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church where she was a lector, eucharistic minister and a Catholic Christian Doctrine (CCD) Teacher.

Lillian leaves behind her beloved children; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Vincent Calogero, Christine Mody (Joseph Zerga) and Joan Nehme.; her son Joseph Mody Jr. (Debra Torchia); her cherished grandchildren, Michael Calogero (Tess Potaczala), Lisa (Calogero) Shaffer (Richard), John Nehme Jr, (Nicole), Joseph Nehme (fiancé Ilyana Rahman) and their father John Nehme, Sr., Joseph Mody III and Nicholas Mody and their mother Penny Mody; cherished great-grandchildren, Anthony Vincent Shaffer, Scarlett Marie Calogero and she was awaiting the birth of her great grandson Baby Boy Nehme, as well as many nieces and nephews, She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Rita Crowley.

Her Divine Liturgy of the Faithful Departed will be Celebrated on Saturday April 22, 2023, at 11:00 am in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, Utica, with the Rev. Boutros El Hachem officiating. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery next to her beloved Joseph. The family will greet all guests at the conclusion of mass in church.
