Louis Testa, Jr.

September 11, 1946 — August 29, 2022

Utica

Louis Testa Jr. went home to be with the lord on Monday August 29, 2022.  He was born in Utica, NY on September 11, 1946, a son of the late Louis Sr. and Mabel (Collard) Testa.  He was employed with the US Postal Service for many years, retiring in 2003.  On May 9, 1970, he was married to Jennifer LaPaglia.  They shared a loving relationship of 44 years, until Jennifer’s passing on September 23, 2014.

Louis was a proud veteran and served his country in the US Marines, fighting in the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

Throughout his life, Louis enjoyed various hobbies.  He would golf with his friend Mike DeSantis, always making him laugh.  He collected baseball cards and went to card shows with his son Jeff.  In his younger days, he enjoyed camping with his family, running the boilermaker, and playing racquetball.  He also coached little league baseball.  On Saturday nights, pizza and wings would be enjoyed while watching the PPV Boxing matches.  The most fun he had, however, was spending time with his wife Jennifer.  They frequented the Turning Stone Casino, Atlantic City, and Saratoga Racetrack.

He shared a close relationship over the years with his buddy and grandson, Michael Kloster.  He will also be greatly missed by his canine companion, Mia.

He is survived by his son Jeffrey Testa and wife Marybeth; daughter Shannon (Testa) Kloster; beloved grandchildren, Michael Kloster and Alyssa Kloster, sister in-law, Michele LaPaglia Smith and Garry Smith; brother in-law Joseph Geruntino and sister in-law Cathy Testa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers Douglas (Carol) Testa, Bob Testa, Jimmy Testa, Billy Testa, and his sister Lucy (Testa) Geruntino.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony/St. Agnes Church, Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass in church. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dilip Kachare, whom Louis looked to, not only as his Doctor but also a friend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Utica Veterans Center. Envelopes will be available at church mass.
