Mrs. Lucille L. (Rinaldi) Simon, age 87, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at home, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Utica on September 20, 1933, a daughter of the late Leo and Angeline Rinaldi and was educated in local schools. Lucille was raised with the love and support of her mother and stepfather Angeline and Louis Carchiani. On February 26, 1954, she was married to Samuel J. Simon, Sr. in Mt. Carmel Church, sharing a blessed union of 67 years.

Lucille was employed with the Smith Clothing Distribution Co. for over 55 years until her retirement.

Surviving is her beloved husband, Sam; her beloved son and daughter-in-law Samuel J. Jr., and Patricia Simon of Utica; her cherished grandchildren Samuel J. III and Ava Simon of Sauquoit and Marisa and Gary Taurisani of Remsen; two beloved great grandchildren Samuel David Simon and Luke Raymond Taurisani; many nieces, nephews, and a special great niece LeAnn Ramey and Luis Martinez; also surviving are Lucille’s dearest, long-time friends Elaine and Joseph Furgol and their children Grace Anne and David Guski and Judy and Randy Crouse and their families and also dear friends George Sabo and Kathy Ganci.

She was predeceased by three sisters Antoinette Pardi, Rosemary and husband Robert Rosato and Leona Saggese, a special nephew Frank Esposito and a special niece Victoria Saggese.

The family will gather and honor Lucille’s life in a private ceremony with the Rev. Joseph Salerno officiating. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family extends a special thank you to the caregivers of Hospice Care Inc. and One Care Plus for their care and compassion given to Lucille during her illness, with a special thank you to Kelly, Tracy. Loraine, Amber and Bonnie from One Care Plus who cared for Lucille like family.
