Utica

Mr. Norman C. Jackson, 83, of Utica, New York passed away after a brief illness at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with the love and support of his family.

Norman was born in Mohawk, New York on March 7, 1937, the son of Laverne and Edna Jackson. He was educated in local schools. Norman proudly served our country in the US Army from 1955-1958. Upon returning from the service, he married the love of his life, Geraldine A. Antonelli on October 25, 1958 in St. Agnes Church, a loving and blessed union of 62 years.

Norman’s career spanned a dedicated 35 years with the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of Clinton, New York. Upon retirement, he became a proficient researcher in his family’s genealogy. However, he was most content taking care of his home and yard, as well as spending time on the internet acquiring information.  Also, Norm was a car enthusiast attending many car shows in the area with his wife, Geraldine. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post # 229. Norman’s greatest joy in life came from the love of his family. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who centered his life around them. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine; two beloved sons, Mark Jackson of Utica, New York and Dr. Brian and Michele Jackson of New Hartford, New York; his cherished grandchildren Angela and Steve Dell’Anno, Diana Jackson and Will Niles, Malissa and Zachary Mannerberg, Anna, Julia, and Grant Jackson; cherished great-grandchildren Nicholas Ruggiero and Makaila, Gennaro and Vincenzo Dell’Anno; one sister Dorothy Tallini of Whitesboro, New York and nephew Jeffrey and Susan Jackson of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Norman’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff on the 3rd and 4th Floors at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Dr. Fred Talarico for the wonderful care and compassion they provided.
